Saturday Spotlight: Al Muttaqun

Asalamalaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu

My name is Umm Sulaiman and I have just launched a new online Islamic Shop called “Al Muttaqun”, selling baby and children’s toys, books, homeschooling/educational materials and parenting books.

Al Muttaqun logoI chose the name “Al Muttaqun” from the Quran, meaning (English translation) The Pious/God-Fearing.

“…Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders of the pious (al muttaqun).”

(Al-Furqaan 25:74)

I am a revert and mother to a 3 year old little boy mashallah tabarak Allah. What inspired me to set up my business, was the difficulties I faced when trying to buy toys and various items for my son that did not contain images or music. As parents it is our Islamic responsibility to raise and nurture our children upon the Quran and Sunnah and to keep away from that which is impermissible.

The Prophet (saaw) said: “All of you are shepherds and will be held responsible for his flock”.

(Sahih: Al Bukhari and Muslim)

The Prophet (saw) also warned us against bringing images into the house and said that this is a sin and that it deprives a person of good.

“The Angels (of mercy) do not enter the house in which there is a dog or there are pictures/statues”

(Sahih: Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Al Muttaqun does NOT sell anything that contains images or music, so In shaa Allah the Angels will enter in to our homes and we will not be deprived of good (blessings).

Al Muttaqun is more than just an online shop, it is also a resource for sisters and homeschoolers to go to In Shaa Allah. It has dawah/evidence from the Quran and Sunnah and we feature/support “Little explorers” Children’s Islamic magazine, The “Muslim Kids Series” Islamic Apps, “Elizabeth Lymer” The Islamic Author and Rhythmer and “Ummah in Need” Muslim Charity that sends aid to our brothers and sisters in Syria.

I have also designed and manufactured my own products of faceless soft toys and baby ratttles, which have all been handmade here in the UK and CE Tested.

MY-FIRST-CAMELThe soft toys include:

My First Camel
My First Teddy Bear
My First Bunny Rabbit
My First Elephant.

Elephant RattleThe Baby Rattles include

Giraffe Rattle
Elephant Rattle
Rabbit Rattle (availble in grey or white).

The “Giraffe Rattle” and “My First Elephant” are black and white in colour – which is great for babies and encourages visual development!

Thank You Sister Fozia for featuring Al Muttaqun on your website/blog, Jazak Allah Khair

  • I have come across this Al-Muttaqun before somewhere, I guess on Instagram. I am glad to know that companies are now making toys specifically for Muslims.

  • Love these toys – wish they were around when my kids were little. Alhamdulillah. May allah grant you success in your business and the hereafter.

  • This is a really great resource. Even though I myself I’m not adamant against toys with images or clothes with images, this website would be really helpful to buy toys for parents who are stricter on this matter.

  • Wow. This is amazing.
I like the idea of homeschooling material very much. Their should be a place where Muslim homeschoolers can find books and resources. 🙂
    Barak’Allah!
