Project 365 – March 12 to March 18

Day 71 – A quiet Sunday at home today. In the evening attempted some family time and get the girls together to play boards games. Bee lost and accused her sister of cheating and saying she never wanted to play with her again! There was no cheating going on!

Day 72 – I have realised that with dads health the way it is I have been neglecting the girls a bit and leaving them to entertain themselves. So trying to make a conscious effort of doing something together in the evening. Today was the turn of colouring.

Day 73 – Dad was getting confused again today. Rather than wait until it got so bad that they could do nothing for themselves we decided to call NHS direct and get him seen to. They sent an ambulance and took Dad in. However because he was only having mild confusion the doctor said they couldn’t do anything for him and as they weren’t going to change his meds they could keep him in but would only observe him.  Decided to bring him home as he probably would have been confused and frightened if left alone at hospital.  The pic is of the x-ray waiting area, pretty cool zebras.

Day 74 – Today was an appointment with the liver specialist. She pretty much said there is not much more they can do. Recommended to make sure dad is kept hydrated but regarding the constant mild confusion he is experiencing they can’t stop it. However if it get’s worse then we would have to take him in as the drips they give him when he’s at his worst are the only things keeping him alive. Sad news but a lovely sunny day so did a spot of gardening in the evening to keep my mind off things.

Day 75 – Wasn’t really in the mood for any picture taking – so here are the goldfish. They used to be small and could fit in that house…now look how big they are!

Day 76 – I go to the local mosque on Friday mornings for some Quran lessons. However as I was setting off I got a call from my mum in tears that she was struggling to cope with dad in his confusion. Ended up going there and cancelling all future lessons….I keep paying for the lessons and have missed so many already which makes it hard to catch up. Here’s a pic of a new scarf I had ordered online which arrived.

Day 77 – Usual karate lessons for Bee and horse riding for the eldest. A bit of normality in our current crazy lives. This is a picture of Belle. Just stroking her had a calming effect.

So sorry to hear about how things are going with your dad. It must be really hard on you all. I shame you had to cancel your lessons at the mosque, but sounds like the sensible option right now.
Why can’t kids play board games without arguing and getting upset?! My 13yo son was in tears over Monopoly at Christmas because 15yo was beating him!

So sorry to hear that things aren’t going so well with your dad, so hard. The arguing over ‘cheating’ at board games sounds horribly familiar!

I doubt in the great scheme of things in years to come the girls will remember this time as being a time you did not play with them. You have other things on your mind and are doing the best you can.
The goldfish makes a change from the cat…
Yes the loser always blames the winner in this house as cheating as well.

The confusion sounds scary – hope your Dad has a better week this week.
