How To Play?

Penguins are hungry little things and love their fish….So the aim of the game is to win the most fish. The 60 hexes have different number of fish on them; 1, 2 or 3. Each player starts off with the penguin on a hex with 1 fish. Then the penguins have to be moved in turns, in a straight line, to any hex they wish. As they move they pick up the hex they started on as that is the fish they have won. That in turn leaves a gap on the floor that penguins wont be able to pass. The game ends when there are no more moves for the penguins to make.

Our Thoughts

The game is recommended for ages 8+. Although I think the younger ones can play too as it is relatively simple. However although it is simple, it does involve strategy. You can make tactical moves to prevent other players getting the hexes with 3 fishes and have to think about the moves you make to try to stop you from getting stuck on an ‘island’….although that is eventually inevitable. So even though Bee could make the moves and understand she could only go in a straight line, I had to help her with her strategy to enable her to beat her sister….who obviously wasn’t best pleased her sister got help and beat her by about 20 fish!

The simplicity of the game will appeal and the game itself doesn’t take long. A fun way to pass 10-15 mins.
