Review: Spirit Riding Free – Spirit and Lucky Deluxe Feeding Set

Disclosure: We received Spirit Riding Free – Spirit and Lucky Deluxe Feeding Set for the purposes of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

We are a family of horse lovers. As a child I wanted to go horse riding but my parents didn’t allow me to…but when my eldest showed an interest I got her started and she has now been going a few years. Bee comes with us to the stables and the horses look out for her and polos.

So of course the girls are going to watch anything horse related and love their horse toys.

Spirit Riding Free is one of their favourite horse animated series and the girls have watched the episodes a few times. When we heard that the Spirt Riding Free toy range had just launched in the UK we were so excited!

The Spirit & Lucky Deluxe Feeding Set, inspired by DreamWorks Animation series, Spirit Riding Free, is the ultimate horse and doll play experience!

What did we think?

What initially pleased me was that Spirit comes with batteries. A lot of toys these days don’t so you have to buy the batteries before play can commence. But in this case as soon as we managed to release Spirit and Lucky from the packaging, (they were really well packaged and tied up), the girls could immediately see what Spirit could do and start playing.

Spirit and Lucky are currently Bee’s favourite toy and she has been playing with them every day since they arrived. She loves the sounds Spirit makes. To activate the sounds you have to either press the button on his back or tip his head down.

She also loves feeding Spirit and then releasing the carrots from a panel in the belly to be able to feed Spirit again. To feed Spirit you have to hold the button on his back down and then wait for a small ‘clunk’ noise which signals it has dropped down. You can only feed Spirit one carrot at a time.

Both Lucky and Spirit’s hair are smooth, soft and silky and Bee is enjoying playing with them and brushing them. To make the whole set even better I feel a small brush could have been included to groom Spirit’s hair.

With one of Spirit’s leg upright he can be a bit unstable if where he is standing isn’t  flat. It may have been nice to have his legs as poseable too. However Bee is loving him and Lucky just as they are and I can see her playing with them both for a long time to come! I must admit when I saw the price I did think maybe it was too much seeing the main things Spirit does is eat a carrot and make some noise……but the quality of the toy is brilliant and both Spirit and Lucky are bringing a lot of fun and joy to Bee’s playtime. Even the eldest has been having a go (when Bee lets her!)
