The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said;

“In it there is healing for every disease, except death.” (Bukhari)

I have been meaning to try black seed products for a while but just haven’t got round to trying any. I initially thought it was just oil you can get but have since realised you can get capsules and even beauty products such as soap and face cream.

Recently I received The Signature Essentials bundle from The Blessed Seed.

Retailing at £49.50 the bundle includes:

  • 1x Original Black Seed Oil – 100ml bottle
  • 1x Black Seed Soap & Shampoo bar – 80g
  • 1x Moisturising Face Cream – 50ml
  • 1x Strong Black Seed Oil Capsules – 90 x 500mg
  • 1x Black Seeds / Nigella Sativa – 100g bag

Original Black Seed Oil

Black Seed Oil, also called black cumin or Nigella sativa, is pretty popular and is said to be a remedy for a number of ailments such as allergies, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and more.

You can take a teaspoon dosage raw but it generally has a bitter taste so some like to mix it in with other food/drink they consume. Some like to mix it in with honey to take away the bitter taste. It can also be used as an alternative to dressings used on foods such as vegetables.

Black Seed Oil can also be used for your hair and on any skin conditions.

Please note that large quantities may not be safe so always do your research on dosage and/or seek advice from a professional before consuming.

Black Seed

An alternative if you don’t like the taste of the oil is the packet of seeds. You can add black seed to your dishes…we commonly can add them to curries but you can also add them to other foods such as salads, yoghurt or mix them in with smoothies.

Black Seed Soap and Shampoo bar

I must admit I haven’t used this as a shampoo..well to be honest I didn’t get a chance as the soap got used by everyone else before I got a chance to try it on my hair! My hubby seemed to like the soap as he has used pretty much all of it. What we liked about it was that it did not have a strong scent and was more natural then some of the other soaps we currently have in the house…and it does still leave you feeling clean.

Moisturising  Face Cream

Black Seed Oil Cream

Although the cream doesn’t say on the label it is for the face, when looking at the website it is stated that it is a face cream. I am always slightly reluctant to put unknown creams on my face as I often end up with spots but alhamdulillah after using this I had no reaction. The cream did feel slightly heavy when applied but that may be due to the fact that I rarely put on face cream. The smell of rose is clearly evident when applying and it does linger. The scent did take some getting used to but if you like the smell of rose then you are likely to like the scent of the cream. After a few uses I did feel like my face was looking a bit clearer and healthier.

Black Seed Oil Capsules

I initially didn’t take these as I was on other medication at the time and didn’t think it was a good idea. But I started to take them a few weeks ago and alhamdulillah there haven’t been any side effects. The capsules are ideal for those who find the taste of Black Seed and Black Seed Oil unpalatable as there is no taste. However, as with any food supplement it is a good idea to speak to your doctor if you have any medical conditions.

As I am diabetic I was interested to learn that there here have been some claims that Black Seed can help lower blood sugar levels. However I cannot comment on that just yet as I am currently diet controlled and watching my diet at the moment to get my levels down. I always find it hard to say if capsules and generally food supplements are making my health better but I will continue to keep taking these due to the general benefits reported about Black Seed.

The Signature Essentials Bundle, or indeed any of the Black Seed range, would make a lovely gift for anyone and with Eid coming up why not treat some of your friends/family?

Do you use Black Seed products? What is your favourite?
