I wasn’t planning on getting any more hajj relat I wasn’t planning on getting any more hajj related books but I couldn’t resist this one .

‘’Share the excitement of Hajj from the eyes of a little boy as he tells his friends about his pilgrimage to Makkah.”

One thing to immediately mention is that this book isn’t really a story as such; we never even learn the boys name who is sharing his experience. The book is designed to give an experience of hajj from a child’s perspective and is to be used as a guiding point for parents to elaborate further. This is made clear in the note to parents and teachers at the start of the book. What I found handy was a list of points that can be discussed with your children as you go through the book.

All the important aspects are mentioned in the book such as the Ka’aba, tawaaf, the tents in Mina, Arafat, men shaving their hair and more.

The book is written in rhyming text which can appeal to young children and each page is full of illustration and colour to catch the children’s attention.

There is a glossary at the back explaining some of the terms used such as the Black Stone, Safa. Tawaf etc. This is handy for those who may not know much about hajj themselves.

I Went for Hajj is a cute book for the little ones as an introduction to hajj.

In a reflective mood……This time last year my c In a reflective mood……This time last year my consultant was talking about keeping me in hospital until the date of my C-section. So 4 weeks.

I’d had a 4 day stay in hospital due to a heavy bleed, which turned into an emergency and prepping me for a C-section…but Alhamdulillah baby had stabilised enough for them not to operate…she would have been around 31 weeks then. But the steroids they gave me messed with my sugar levels so I was on an insulin drip…and they wouldn’t let me home until they were completely certain Minu was ok in there. I had cannulas in both hands, the baby monitor round my stomach pretty much the whole time I was there…and I ended up missing Bee’s belt testing at karate!

And then at my next appointment the consultant was worried I would bleed again which could lead to a hemorrhage (all because of placenta previa). But she let me come home as we aren’t far from the hospital, after I promised I would get to the hospital at any sign of bleeding.

I won’t lie…I was terrified I would have another bleeding episode which might have a worse outcome. This was the hardest pregnancy by far…back pain in the first trimester which literally had me in tears in the morning, and then the fear of bleeds in the second and third trimester.

But Alhamdulillah she arrived safely, but I had to have a blood transfusion…. But we were both ok with recovery being long but no major issues. Can’t believe she will be 1 at the end of this month! It’s flown by.
‘Mum I’m really not sure about this new look o ‘Mum I’m really not sure about this new look of yours.’ 🤔

Why can’t there be a hijabi monster?? 😂😂

But she’s turning into a little monster herself 🙊😂 Tantrums already and we are at that clingy stage where she doesn’t want me out of her sight. She’s hating on her pushchair and wants to be held…but then held only by me….which is exhausting! It’s great that she loves me and wants me…but come on…give me a break 🤪😂 I go to the bathroom and she’s at the bottom of the stairs clinging onto the stair gate even when her sisters are there.

I remember that stage with the other kids, was worst with my eldest.

Did you go through the clingy stage? How bad was it?
Seeing as she won’t let me do a reel/pictures of Seeing as she won’t let me do a reel/pictures of when she started school and now when she’s left school, here’s her signed shirt instead.

Last day of Year 11! Can’t quite believe it. 😱😱

Seems a shame though that the school didn’t do a proper party for them, considering what a tough time it’s been over the last few years.

They were only really allowed to hang about after their final exam for a short while, getting their shirts signed etc and a video of their embarrassing moments over the years.

I never got my shirt signed when I left school…wish I had now.

Did you get yours signed? And if so do you still have it?!

Health. We take it for granted sometimes. Recent Health. We take it for granted sometimes.

Recent blood tests show my iron and Vitamin D levels are low again. I’m stuck in this vicious cycle…I take meds, they go up…I feel better and stop taking them….then I’m back to feeling rubbish until they check me again and realise they are low again. I really need to just keep taking supplements.

And I really need to look after myself. Some other tests showed borderline results when I checked my results online…and waiting to speak to a doctor to find out what that means…

But the fact is it is all my fault.

I don’t eat healthy.

I rarely exercise.

And I know I need to do both.

We have to look after ourselves…I know sometimes it’s easier said than done…especially when you are running around after little kids and you are mentally and physically exhausted…but mums, if we don’t look after ourselves who will?

We need to look after ourselves. Not just for the kids but for ourselves….if we are healthy we feel better within ourselves.

I’ve said to my hubby he needs to keep Minu for an hour or so in the mornings so I can get out and do some exercise…and to be honest as she’s so demanding I desperately need time away from her. But more importantly for my health….Islam teaches us to look after our bodies and I need to start taking that seriously.

I’ve heard rumours of a small ladies only gym opening round the corner from me…if that’s true I will definitely be making the effort to go in sha Allah.

I need to do this.

Ad I’m very conscious of how much screen time Ad

I’m very conscious of how much screen time the girls are getting and it’s vital to get them out and staying active for both their physical and mental health.

Stay Active is a range of family inclusive toys that can be played inside or outside while having active fun. It’s benefits include increased mental well being, improved movement, balance, coordination and reaction time and also improved social skills, self western, and confidence.

This month we are staying active with Sling Ball, which is basically a game of catch! Simple but fun and lightweight so you can take it everywhere you go, even on holiday. We headed to the park and Bee and her dad had a good game!

Sling Ball is available from @smythstoys, Amazon and other toy stores and supermarkets.

How are you managing to stay active?

Having a baby changes everything. Yesterday it wa Having a baby changes everything.

Yesterday it was my birthday and hubby unexpectedly had the last few days off due to an issue with his car…so he was here for both mine and the eldest’s birthdays.

Usually we would jump in the car and just go somewhere but with the baby we can’t anymore. He suggested we go to Leicester on my birthday for some food and chaat….but Minu was exceptionally grumpy (which I now know is because a tooth was ready to make an appearance). I wasn’t prepared to attempt a one hour journey for the first time with her in the mood she was in. Plus the eldest needed to revise for her exams. So it was a quiet one at home with some takeaway and cake. And yes I did feel a bit down about it. I miss our random, last minute, drives and meals out.

But life with Minu has changed all that again.

I’m not one of these couples that manages to go on ‘date nights’. Where we go the kids go too. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I keep seeing posts by influencers saying how it’s important to have ‘date nights’ for the sake of the marriage. But I’ve never had one 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t have anyone I can leave the kids with (my parents are too elderly for it, especially the baby) and no siblings prepared to do it. And I refuse to get a random stranger (babysitter) to look after them.

It does make me feel rubbish sometimes as yes it would be nice to spend some time with him without the kids…but it’s just not possible for us.

And you know what, I’ve come to realise that’s ok for us. We have managed over 16 years without date nights.

Anyone else like me and never gone on one?
