Sometimes there’s people on social media who oft Sometimes there’s people on social media who often read between the lines and end up giving you a virtual kick up the backside…and @oohhno.itsher is that person! She doesn’t take any nonsense and says it how it is…and always sees when I need a kick. I think she would probably kick me in real life if I saw her 🙊

I’m going to take her advice on my last post on board. And see this as the year to be healthier and happier.

I’ve not been taking care of my health, eating whatever and just thinking I don’t care if I drop dead tomorrow. Eating rubbish and then in turn it affects mood etc..so it’s a vicious cycle.

I have to take care of myself not just for this little one, but for myself too.

Mums/women, don’t forget you are important too! We often give our all to our families and forget about ourselves.

Don’t rely on others to care about your well-being. Take care of it yourself…only you truly can. Live life….don’t just survive it.
#Ad gifted I was sent this #OlayPowerCouple a fe #Ad gifted

I was sent this #OlayPowerCouple a few weeks back, but with mum ending up in hospital I’ve not had much time to share it.

Olay brings back a lot of childhood memories as it’s a brand my mum used. And it’s still going strong!

I was sent the Olay Vitamin C + AHA24 Day Cream & Olay Retinol24 Night Cream
Bright.

Can your cream….

…visibly brighten skin in 1 day & promote a more even skin tone within 14 days?
…strengthen your skin barrier with a breakthrough formula that contains vitamin C, skin-loving Lactic Acid and Niacinamide?
…renew skin cells overnight so you wake up to smooth and glowing skin?

Now my regular followers will know I’m pretty bad with skincare. I buy things and then just don’t use them. But I have to say, although maybe not daily, I have been using these fairly regularly.

I was a bit nervous using the night cream as I didn’t want to develop spots overnight, but it went on the skin smoothly, and it soon felt like I didn’t have anything on my face. As it’s fragrance free you can soon forget you have applied something.

The Vitamin C cream again felt really light on the face and has a light orange fragrance which isn’t overwhelming.

Again I was concerned as I was putting 2 new creams on my face. But thankfully I didn’t break out, and my skin felt so much softer after applying. Even on the days I forgot to apply it, my skin felt softer and smoother.

They are something I would purchase again if I can stick to the routine of applying them!! 🙊

Have you tried Olay?

Birthdays. What are they? Just a reminder you are Birthdays.

What are they? Just a reminder you are getting older.

Wasn’t in the mood this morning. Kids went off to school not even acknowledging it’s my birthday and when hubby said we will go to breakfast I honestly didn’t want to go. Just didn’t feel like going out. But I knew that was the only effort going to be made for me today, so got ready.

Anyone else just hate birthdays now? I mean I’m in my 40’s and feel like all I do is sit at home and look after the kids and feel under appreciated.

Happy birthday to me (!) 🤦🏽‍♀️🙊

But the breakfast was nice.
I was recently asked whether I thought a water/san I was recently asked whether I thought a water/sand table was better or a tuff tray. And thought I’d share it as a post.

Alhamdulillah we are lucky that we have a water table, a sand and water table and a tuff tray.

With 3 children, with large age gaps, we have accumulated a number of things over the years. And I’ve been too lazy to try to sell/give them away which is good as now Minu uses them all.

Our water table is rarely used though, it’s sitting in the corner of the garden. I think we used it once last year on a really hot day.

The sand and water table is now being used but when the tuff tray had sand in it, that wasn’t being used either.

The tuff tray has been used ever since I got it (it’s a new purchase this year as wanted something I could use indoors and the tray we already had was a bit big with no stand)

So far we have used the tuff tray for water beads, play dough, water play, sand play, shaving foam messy play and today it’s animal play.

So personally I find a tuff tray more versatile and a lot more can be done with it. And if you lack space, then a smaller size is perfect to use indoors too.

Half term is pretty much over. Yet again we haven’t done much as the first half of the week, mum was in hospital and the second half have been spending most mornings at their house to keep an eye on them. I feel bad that yet again another half term has been spent not doing much, but Alhamdulillah.

“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you shall render utmost kindness to your parents.” (Al-Israa’ 17:23)
I’ve kind of gotten used to people I know commen I’ve kind of gotten used to people I know commenting on my kids when they are little… that they aren’t ‘fat’ etc. But when a random stranger does it I’m left shocked!

A nurse followed us into the lift and asked how old Minu was…and then continued with ‘she’s very weak isn’t she?’

I was speechless that a complete stranger would think it’s ok to say that to someone. She was Asian and Muslim and I think from our same culture but still…it was so wrong!

I then doubted myself too briefly…it’s been hard with mum being in hospital. Her nap times and her meal times have been all over the place…as most days I’ve been doing the 2-4 AND 6-8 visits and as a result she has been going to bed later than usual. She has been off her food again and I’m not sure if it’s because of all the disruption at the moment or she’s started teething again…so I did for a moment doubt my parenting.

But she’s happy, she’s been running around, waving to the other patients…and if she hasn’t been having full meals, she has been snacking and having her milk.

People need to mind their own business. If you aren’t asked for your opinion, then don’t give it!
Decided to take the girls to @johnsonsofoldhurst t Decided to take the girls to @johnsonsofoldhurst today. Been meaning to go for ages but today we needed a break from the hospital visits to see mum. As it’s half term it’s not fair on the girls to just be stuck going to and from the hospital. My bro had a day off today so took the opportunity to go while he did the hospital visits.

Minu had a nice time seeing the animals and there’s a nice woodland walk for those who fancy a walk! It’s not a huge place so you can be done in half a day if that.

However if you want to eat you can’t take your own food, but make sure you order any hot food before you get hungry as it was so busy that it took over 30 minutes to get a sandwich, jacket potato and some chips.

I was actually planning to go to the Lake District I was actually planning to go to the Lake District this half term…hovered over the ‘book’ button a few times. But it’s like something stopped me….

And it’s a good job it did….mum is doing better but they aren’t sending her home just yet….so we wouldn’t have been able to go.

I was looking forward to doing things this half term….but Alhamdulillah.

Minu is enjoying herself with the hospital visits 🤦🏽‍♀️ and the other patients in the ward look forward to seeing her too! She waves bye to everyone every time we leave 🙊

Hope everyone has a good weekend…the weather isn’t looking too bad right now!
Totally understanding the ‘I’m so tired, even Totally understanding the ‘I’m so tired, even my tired is tired’ quote today! 🙊😴

Been a long day of rushing around and feel like every bone and muscle is aching. I just don’t have the stamina I used to have anymore 😳

Really need to start getting some proper exercise done on a regular basis I think!
‘A grandmothers love is forever and always.’ U ‘A grandmothers love is forever and always.’ Unknown

Being abroad I never had an extremely close relationship with my grandmother. But Alhamdulillah my girls are growing up around theirs. Minu was initially confused as to where we were when we got to the hospital, but then she joined her Nani on her bed and ate her strawberries. The nurses saw her on the bed but didn’t say anything, just smiled 🙊

May Allah (swt) bring mum home soon and allow her to see Minu grow up.

Its funny how strict they were with me, but the girls get away with so much more 🤦🏽‍♀️🙊 Always the way with grandparents isn’t it??
I’ll be honest, I’m not one for buying parenti I’ll be honest, I’m not one for buying parenting books or courses…it’s just not my thing. I just muddle along.

But I was sent this some time ago by @kubepublishing and today while the girls played in the garden I’ve managed to sit and read it.

What I like about it is that it’s not an overwhelming read as it only has about 100 pages. Which is why I was prepared to sit and read it.

‘Preparing for Life is a reminder to, particularly, Muslim parents about their unique and entrusted role in preparing their children for life with universal human and Islamic values.’

A lot of what I read, was to me, common sense. The importance of communication with the children, building understandings etc.

I often find parenting books can come across judgmental, telling you how to raise your children. This book covers the issues that our children are facing today and some practical tips on how to support your children and deal with the issues. And it also mentions how community institutions can also help…etc.

If you are looking for a light read with some practical tips for your parenting journey then this book is for you.

Was looking forward to this weekend. The weather Was looking forward to this weekend.

The weather is nice, there’s fun days and festivals happening so had planned to get out.

I forgot that as a mum I shouldn’t plan or really look forward to getting out. As something will go wrong or someone will get sick. 👏🏽

And that’s exactly what’s happened. Another weekend stuck at home I think. But Alhamdulillah we have a garden and Minu can play outside.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Any plans?
