Asalaam Alaikum/Hi All
So it was munchkins first day of school today after the holidays!
Last year there was usually a mad rush in the morning as I got her ready for school, got myself ready for work, made our lunches, cleaned out the budgies seeds and water and fed the rabbit. I even tried getting up a bit earlier last year so I wasn’t rushing around like a headless chicken 5 minutes before we were due to leave the house, but even that never worked. No matter how early I got up I was still rushing around at the last minute- doesn’t make sense does it?
But today I was chilled out, which was surprising seeing as it was her first day of her second year and I had no idea where her classroom was. I knew roughly which direction it was in, just didn’t know the exact location.
I put munchkin downstairs to have her breakfast which for some odd reason can take her 30 minutes to 45 minutes to eat.
A small bowl of cereal.
Well anyway I decided I wasn’t going to get frustrated but just told her that if she didn’t eat it quickly I would leave for work and she could stay home alone!
It worked! She managed it in 20 minutes.
So all was ok and we were not rushing around. For once we wouldn’t be running out the door with me shouting ‘Grab your stuff quick or we are going to be late!’
I knew it was too good to be true. At the last minute I remembered I had forgotten to feed the rabbit and change his water. And then the budgie was being stubborn and didn’t want to get back in his cage (I let them have a fly around first thing in the morning if they want to). I ended up spending a couple of minutes coaxing him back into the cage.
So yet again it was a mad rush to get out the house and get to school in time.
And to make it worse, it started raining when I went to pick her up at the end of the day! Oh the joys of the school run! I hate it!
And to make matters EVEN worse I took her to the hairdressers after school to get her hair cut. She has headlice!
What a great start!!
Headlice, this is the worst that can happen just as school starts – Hope you'll get thing solved quickly for her.
Morning rush I can understand, when I was Au Pair there was not one single morning we would not rush with the girls……….
I know exactly how this feels and have just learnt to accept it. My thinking now is that it would not be the school run if it wasn't for the rush. What I mean is that during the holidays we were all up dressed and fed before 8.30 without no yelling and bribery (lol) but now it is a miracle how we even make it to school on time.
I think all households with young children are similar! No matter how organized I try to be – something always seems to make us late! Karima 🙂
You guys cant get ready on time.. With us, no matter how early we leave, we inevitably get caught in traffic which, obviously, makes us late.. lol.. The traffic in the morning and late afternoon is an absolute nightmare!!
Exactly wat Karima says. Here the same thing, if we(I) are(am) in a hurry my Little One is always doing(at least that's how it seems to me) everything as slow as possible.
Insha'Allah munchkin will be relieved of the headlice soon. And insha'Allah they will keep away from you yourself.
