This week we did a very basic craft but one which the girls can add to every week or even every day.
A reminder to be thankful to Allah (swt).
Allah says in the Quran: “And whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah” [al-Nahl 16:53]
I want the girls to appreciate the things they have and to remember to be thankful about everything, from the air they breathe, to the food they eat, the toys they have and even including things like the days out I take them on.
I thought it would be a good idea to start a booklet for them to write down and draw pictures of what they are grateful for (possibly start up a box with keepsakes too) and remind them to be constantly thankful to Allah (swt) in sha Allah!
Nice and simple! Why not give it a try?
I printed out the words ‘Thankful for’ and then let the girls decorate them in any way they wanted.
Bee of course just did some scribbling over the paper but Munchkin was slightly more careful. (excuse the slight green smudge on the a…..we had the budgie out and the cat unexpectedly came in so it was panic stations).
What is great about this is then you can just personal it in any which way you want. You can make up a memory box for them to put things in that they are thankful for. For example a souvenir from a day out they appreciate, a picture, pressed flowers….anything that takes their fancy.
Alternatively you can add the decorated words to a folder in which they can add pictures or even stories about what they are thankful for.
A great way to create memories but also to remind your children to be thankful for everything they have in sha Allah.
