Teaching Arabic with ThinkerNation Arabic Puzzles

If you are currently at the stage where you are teaching your children the Arabic Alphabet then you will love this Arabic Alphabet Puzzle from ThinkerNation.

So what, or rather WHO are ThinkerNation?

ThinkerNation is  literally a mom and pop operation. In this case, mom is a pediatrician and Pop is an IT consultant living with our 2  rambunctious young sons in the rolling hills of Washington state. Neither of us had any idea how to run a business. The closest we had ever been to building things was assembling Ikea furniture. But out of necessity, comes invention.  We wanted our sons to be fluent in arabic and feel proud of their Muslim faith.  We wanted high quality educational toys to channel their natural curiosity and make learning fun.

ThinkerNation were kind enough to send me both of their products to check out:

  • Arabic Alphabet Puzzle
  • Arabic Spell and Learn

Arabic Alphabet Puzzle

Followers of the blog will know that I am always on the look out for good quality products and the Arabic Alphabet Puzzle certainly passed expectations. I have come across many products that are flimsy and feel like they won’t last long…and I often end up feeling disappointed. But there were no such feelings with this puzzle!

It is pretty big and sturdy. And when I say sturdy I mean sturdy. Bee can be pretty rough with her toys and has already destroyed some of her sisters old toys which we had looked after….but these should last. The letters themselves are pretty chunky, perfect for little hands to grasp….and their size means they are harder to misplace.

Not just the letters, the puzzle comes with a learning guide.

Perfect to teach the kids numbers and colours aswell! The possibilities are endless; asking the children to pick out the letters with the same colour…how many there are of the same colour etc etc.

The puzzle has definitely become a favourite of ours and Bee is enjoying using it to practice her alphabet.

And the best bit? (Which I didn’t actually realise at first!!) Is that the back of the puzzle doubles up as a chalk board, allowing you to do so much more! Practice writing the letters, colours, numbers…or even do a spot of drawing!

The Arabic Alphabet Puzzle is recommended for ages 3+ and is paediatrician designed and teacher approved.

Arabic Spell and Learn

The Arabic Spell and Learn is slightly more advanced and helps teach your child some words. And if you don’t actually know Arabic yourself (like me) then the English transliteration is ideal to help pronounce the words. It is also all colour coordinated so helps a child place the letters in the right place.

The letters with this puzzle are smaller but are still pretty thick and sturdy. There are 24 everyday words for the children to learn and practice saying and spelling.
