Day 217 – Sunday 4th August
Did some packing ready for our trip to the Isle of Wight tomorrow and didn’t do much else. Eldest went to the stables and we gave the horses polos at the end as usual. There was one who kicked his stable door asking for another one!
Day 218 – Monday 5th August
Up early and out of the house at 6am to make sure we caught our ferry at 11am from Southampton. The weather forecast wasn’t looking good for the week but there was sun at the Isle of Wight today so decided to head straight to The Needles attraction and spend the afternoon there. We went on the chairlift and waited for the boat but when it was our turn they said it was another 20 minute wait as the waves had turned. Instead of waiting we decided to go for a walk on the clifftop. We were tired at the end of it but had some amazing views. Also managed to use our National Trust Membership to see the Batteries at the top.
Day 219 – Tuesday 6th August
Although initially it had been forecast rain it changed to sun and wind…so we decided to try to cram in as much as we could today. We managed to visit Shanklin Shine, Carisbrook Castle, The Donkey Sanctuary and then in the evening played some games at Sandown Pier.
Day 220 – Wednesday 7th August
Today we weren’t entirely sure what to do but started off by going to Monkey Haven and Dinosaur Isle. Also drove onto the Ryde Pier and then had some fun on Sandown Beach. Later drove to Ventnor Downs which is the highest point of the Island to take in the views and in the evening went for a walk and ended up at Sandown Pier again and had some more fun at the amusement arcade.
Got an email too that the repairs to my car have been approved and I will get my car back on the 19th. Until then I am stuck with the Skoda.
Day 221 – Thursday 8th August
Our final day in the Isle of Wight and we had to catch the ferry at 2.30pm. I had really wanted to see Osbourne House where Queen Victoria used to stay and where she died but I realised it was a lot of money for something that the kids and my hubby probably wouldn’t enjoy. So instead we went to the village of Godshill which looked cute when we drove past and was home to the Model Village. We decided to take a look at the Model Village and not far was a Chocolate shop so of course I had to get some chocolate! We had a look at some gardens there too and then went closer to the ferry terminal. Prince William and Kate were there so we were concerned there might be traffic but we managed to get there OK. We wandered around, found another sweet shop ..and then got on the Ferry to come home. We saw the races taking part on the water in which Kate and William were taking part with the helicopter flying above. Had some food in Southampton….got stuck in some traffic on the way back and arrived home just after 8pm.
Day 222 – Friday 9th August
A day to just relax and recover from all the walking we did. And do all the laundry…the worst bit of coming back from a few days away. Rosie was being a bit more vocal than usual so think she had missed us! Maybe she was telling us off for leaving her!
Day 223 – Saturday 10th August
Back to karate today. Was nice to get back and the mums I usually chat to were back from their breaks aswell so it was nice to have a catch up! Then in the afternoon popped to town to get a few bits and ended up getting the girls school shoes as well so thats one less thing to worry about. Then went to an Eid event to get our henna done ready for Eid on Monday. Bee also managed to get her nails done for free too…she picked pink and gold nail polish to go with her outfit.
Glad your break away was good. I’ve not been to the Isle of Wight since I was a child. I love going to N’s activities too – nice to be able to meet up with other mums.
I look forward to the chats with the mums!
It sounds like you had a lovely few days and crammed a lot in. Thank goodness the weather wasn’t as bad as predicted. Bee’s Eid outfit is beautiful. I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow.

I was so pleased the weather improved!
Oh thats not her outfit….that was just a piece of cloth on the table!
Eid Mubarak. The Isle of Wight is lovely, great photo of the needles from the cliff top. Sorry you missed the opportunity for Osbourne House, but there’s always next time. I had to laugh at the horse kicking the door for more polos
Yep hopefully we will go again one day
Lovely photos of your trip this week. I’d love to visit Osbourne House, but these places are always expensive. I think you can get in free with English Heritage membership though so that might be worth a go another time.

Yep it is with the membership but as I pay for the National Trust membership at the moment I couldn’t afford to pay for both
What an amazing view from the clifftop. It sounds like you had a fab trip to the Isle of Wight and crammed so much in. x

They certainly were amazing. Well worth the walk and climb
Lovely pictures, Mashallah! The view from the clifftop is amazing! The village looks great! Thursday must’ve ben an exciting day! I’m loving the Mehndi. I got Mehndi done on my hands as well. I’ll share it on Week 33 🙂
The views were definitely worth the walk! Look forward to seeing the mehndi
I love the henna work, hope the celebrations went well. I spent a lot of holidays on the Isle of Wight as a child, Shanklin was my favourite place, Osborne House is well worth a visit if you go back, there’s a whole area where her kids had their own ‘cottage’ and veg garden too #365
I am going to have to go back one day just for Osborne House
sounds like a lovely few days away with a lot seen and done. Did you see William and Kate?
I love to tour old houses but is very difficult when you have 3 out of the 4 of you not interested
The Henna is great

No didn’t see them but we saw the boats they were in from a distance. We were too far away to see them
Sounds like you had a good break Mashallah! I didn’t know about the Queen Victoria connection to the Isle of Wight till we started watching Victoria on ITV!
We used to have family friends who lived there but have since moved on, but I would love to take hubby there In Shaa Allah as it is a beautiful place.
I didn’t either until I watched Victoria too! You should definitely go!
Henna is fabulous. Glad you had a good break. I’ve never been to the Isle of Wight. It is nice to see other mums xx
Yes it was a lovely break….want to go back
