Day 231 – Sunday 18th August
Eldest went to horse riding and then a chilled out afternoon. I loved this picture of Bee and the little pony trying to get a look at each other!
Day 232 – Monday 19th August
Bee was invited to a play date at one of her karate friends homes. I got her some cakes to take with her. She had a lovely time and thankfully was well behaved!
Day 233 – Tuesday 20th August
Woke up and as the weather was forecast to be nice decided to go out for the day. Decided to see what National Trust properties were nearby as we have membership and ended up going to Woolsthorpe Manor…the home of Isaac Newton. We saw his apple tree; the original one blew down but it grew back again.
Day 234 – Wednesday 21st August
Another nice day was forecast so decided to go to another National Trust property recommended by a friend yesterday: Lyveden New Build. I initially thought it might be a bit boring for the girls but realised that on Wednesdays in the summer holidays they had activities like bug hunting so we went and spent a couple of enjoyable hours there. Bee got to make a bug hotel and then both girls did a spot of bug hunting. The teenager did resist initially as I guess it wasn’t cool enough and she said it was bug abuse! But eventually she started chasing some butterflies!
Day 235 – Thursday 22nd August
Hubby took today off work and we decided to go to Kew Gardens in London as I have been wanting to go for a while. The place is lovely to walk around and they now have a children’s garden which you have to book 90 minute sessions to play in. Bee loved it! There are currently some amazing sculptures placed around the gardens which were interesting to look at.
Day 236 – Friday 23rd August
A new bubble tea place opened last week which I have been wanting to visit and went to day with a friend and our girls. Never had bubble tea before and opted for a mango fruit one which was pretty refreshing. Then popped to the local cathedral which has a huge model of earth on exhibition.
Day 237 – Saturday 24th August
Start of a bank holiday heatwave. I don’t like the heat to be honest, combined with frustrated travellers during bank holiday so have nothing planned except keep cool indoors. Might get Bee’s pool out at some point but with the final week of the holidays coming up the plan is to not do much and just relax…so books, TV, the Wii and general relaxing it is. Might try to get some blog posts done too as haven’t blogged much over the holidays. Enjoying the quiet and the garden…today there were lots of butterflies on the buddleia and also spotted a dragonfly flying around.
Aww! That first photo is very cute. Not long and she’ll be able to see over the stable door.
I think my youngest would love those cakes. Anything with unicorns on and she must have them.
hahaha! That did make me chuckle about your teen saying it was bug abuse. It sounds like she had fun in the end. My teen always resists those type of things too but always ends up having a blast.
Have a good weekend x

I know right…if they would just have a go they would love it…but initially it’s too ‘uncool’ for the teens!
Sounds like you’ve had a nice week of getting out and about. I’ve never been to Kew Gardens, but it looks fabulous. Love that you saw Isaac Newton’s apple tree too! I have no idea what bubble tea is, but it certainly looks very pretty. I must admit I’m quite excited about the hotter weather, I was starting to think autumn had arrived early and I’m not ready for that!

I like it when its sunny but once it starts getting over 25 degrees thats when I don’t like it!
I’d love to go to Kew, but I think N would kill me. He hates gardens lol. Although the kids garden might win him over a bit.
What on earth is bubble tea? Looks interesting though.
I’m the same as you with the heat. Definitely not a fan
It’s an East Asian drink of tea. Quite nice with the different flavours now available
I must admit that bubble tea is a new thing on me – I had to google it. Love that picture with the pony – it’s lovely to see them both trying to see each other.

I only recently heard about it too! It is quite nice though!
Bubble tea is my favourite thing! We first tried it in Canada in 2007 and my Canadian cousins thought it was hilarious their British Baji had never had it and also they kept making us repeating sentences because they thought our accent was so funny!
I love Lychee or Mango Bubble tea and they have a stand in Westfield White City now near the John Lewis so I have one now when I go haha!

I tried the mango one…will have to try the Lychee one!
Nice to get time away from the blog and make the memories rather than sharing them.
One of the disadvantages of the age gap is finding things that appeal to both, we use to have the same problem.
Love the sculpture, Kew gardens would be a nightmare for a hayfever sufferer,
It is so hard isn’t it! Totally different personalities and ages!
Hope Bee enjoyed her lesson. Monkey tried horse riding for the first time the other day and now wants to do it again. I have seen so much about Kew on social media it looks so beautiful I would love to take my two to the play area. Hope you have had a lovely relaxing last week of the holidays

Oh yes you should certainly try to take them!
What lovely photos, especially that first one. It won’t be long until she is peeking out over the door. My little miss is obsessed with unicorns. Hope you have a good weekend x
Yep am sure she will soon be able to see over!
You certainly packed a lot into the last few weeks of the school holidays, such lovely weather also. i’ve never had bubble tea, sounds interesting
The tea was quite nice…but probably not something I would have regularly
