Review: Trunki Paddlepak Dolphin – Splash

When we went on our holiday back in April to Turkey we invested in a Trunki for Bee to pack her snacks and toys for the journey. It also came in handy when she decided she did not want to sit in the pushchair but was happy enough to sit on the Trunki and be

AD gifted The moon is such an important part of AD gifted

The moon is such an important part of Islam, including telling us the start of each month, so it’s no wonder it is the focus of @ummabdillahpublishing next book.

‘The Moon’ is a lyrical book about the moon: ‘’Embark of an imaginative journey to explore a glimpse of a marvellous beauty Allah has created for us!’’

For ages 2-7, this is a vibrant, colourful book to engage the children. The fact it is lyrical makes it a soothing read aloud, although I did feel like some pages weren’t overly lyrical.

Each page is fully illustrated with each character being faceless.

What I particularly liked about it is that there are fun facts and research activities added at the end. Also a moon phases calendar and an exercise for parents to contemplate on Quran verse which mention the moon.

A lovely addition to anyones book shelf.

So we decided to have a go at our own chocolate co So we decided to have a go at our own chocolate covered dates using the dates I got from @thedateproject

Kept it simple as it’s our first go! Filled them with Nutella/peanut butter and an almond each.

And then covered with @cadburyuk Dairy Milk. And finally Bee sprinkled on some coconut/sprinkles.

Don’t think we did too bad really!

Do you make them? What’s your favourite filling/topping? Need some inspiration for the next time we make them 🙊

She’s a very affectionate cat once she starts tr She’s a very affectionate cat once she starts trusting you.

My hubby has started sleeping downstairs as his hay fever has started kicking in..and he doesn’t want to disturb Minu’s sleep….so that then means the cat jumps on the bed at night…miaows in my face….checks out Minu in her cot…and basically disturbs everyone’s sleep anyway 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🙊 I ended up having to lock her in the conservatory last night so I could get a decent nights sleep. I don’t want her sniffing my face at 3am and trying to get me to play with her 🤦🏽‍♀️

After her initial adventure outside she now seems timid about going out. She still hasn’t figured out that she has access to a cat flap allowing her to go in and out as she pleases. I had to go out in the garden today to get her to follow me out, but she only lasted a couple of minutes before she was back in the house 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I want her to explore the garden and tire herself out so she’s not as active at night. But she’s content in the house 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Any recommendations for cat toys to keep her busy and stimulated??
Ramadan is almost upon us and it’s that time of Ramadan is almost upon us and it’s that time of year where people are sharing their Ramadan baskets for their kids and themselves.

Me: I’ve done nothing.

The older kids are old enough to entertain themselves and Minu is too young. I’ll just get out the Ramadan books we have for Bee if she wants to read them and I got the @mydeen_magazine for her. But other than that, I refused to spend any more money.

And for myself I wasn’t going to bother. Realistically I have a bookshelf full of books I keep meaning to read but never get round to…so no point in doing a ‘what am I Reading this Ramadan’ post. It’s not going to happen with a toddler who wants to grab any book I’ve opened. Realistically any time reading will be the Quran when she’s napping.

But then I got tempted by the sale at @kubepublishing and got a few things that I’ve been looking at and decided to treat myself. An early Eid gift to myself as no one else gets me a gift 😂

Whether I actually read them this Ramadan is a different matter though.

Have you got any books you are planning to read this Ramadan?

We don’t really do Mother’s Day. I usually get We don’t really do Mother’s Day. I usually get my mum a cake or something simply because otherwise she complains no one cares…but then on the other hand says it’s a waste of money and with that money we could have made kebabs or something 🙄🤷🏽‍♀️

But the girls dad never bothers and there’s always that debate online as to whether Islamically we should be celebrating it 🤷🏽‍♀️ but it’s nice to do some crafts at toddler group and feel a bit appreciated 😂

Love that Claire was doing the kids feet as butterflies…Minu wasn’t sure what was going on when the paint went on her feet 😂
We ended up missing one of our groups today due to We ended up missing one of our groups today due to my eye test, but thankfully I had booked to go to the @rahamproject lunch club.

The venue had a nice play area which kept her entertained.

Do check out @rahamproject

Some great work being done by them for mums and their partners of ethnic backgrounds, a lot of it focusing on mental well being.
When she’s pretending she knows how to read! I When she’s pretending she knows how to read!

I ended up ringing the HV today as Minu still isn’t talking much. I wasn’t concerned but I was getting grief off everyone that she wasn’t talking and my parents were making me feel like a rubbish mum with their comments that if she was living with them she would be talking by now (as clearly I don’t do enough with her)…. That I decided to make the call for my own peace of mind.

The HV was lovely and said as she’s understanding pretty much everything we are saying to her then she’s not overly concerned. She’s still very young, each child develops at their own pace and to self refer to the speech department if I’m still concerned when she’s 2.

She gave some tips to help us until then, but Alhamdulillah there’s nothing to worry about. I knew there wasn’t….but when people constantly criticise you an element of self doubt creeps in. I told her that and she said she understands but to continue to trust my gut and not others.

Don’t let others put you down to the point you start doubting yourself.

We were meant to go out to messy play today but it We were meant to go out to messy play today but it’s cold and windy and just don’t feel in the mood to socialise this morning. So messy play at home it is.

Honestly? I don’t like using food as messy/sensory play. I just feel like it’s a waste of good food.

We used pasta once before and all I could think was that could have been a decent plate of keema pasta 😂😂🙊🤦🏽‍♀️

But today I’ve given her some shreddies. They have been in our cupboard since last Ramadan (I tend to eat shreddies in the morning as they fill me up), and I think by now they are probably out of date.

So I don’t feel as bad about the food wastage now. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙊

Do you do messy play with food?

Final check up today after her op and she’s been Final check up today after her op and she’s been discharged from further check ups.

I’ve been a nervous wreck since she took off her cone after hearing about the complications other cats have had…but she was so aggressive when trying to get the cone on her and I had no help.

Thankfully though she mainly left her scar alone and it’s healed well. Apparently there is a little bit of swelling but nothing to worry about…and she’s allowed out now if she wants to go out.

I’ve been worrying about her but can now relax. She seems to be a bit calmer at night now too..probably because she’s bonded with Bee and tends to sleep in her room.

I can now finally relax and enjoy having her in the house.
