Review: Trunki Paddlepak Dolphin – Splash

When we went on our holiday back in April to Turkey we invested in a Trunki for Bee to pack her snacks and toys for the journey. It also came in handy when she decided she did not want to sit in the pushchair but was happy enough to sit on the Trunki and be pulled along, which did make others smile as she sat on it backwards.

So we were excited to try out the Paddlepak and see if we loved it as much.

The Paddlepak is a water resistant backpack which is ideal for swimming, days out, and even for school. As described by Trunki:

Paddlepak is designed for adventurous little boys and girls building sandcastles, rock-pooling and paddling in the sea.

Paddlepak has enough room to store tasty treats, pocket money and sea shells. Made from lightweight, durable water-resistant material with hanging loops for pegging up or personalising.

Paddlepak has a high-visibility reflective trim, Trunki storage grip, adjustable padded shoulder straps, and padded mesh back.

Paddlepak comes in a fabulous range of cute aquatic designs, which capture all the fun and colour of the sea-side.

I was initally going to get the Paddlepak for Bee as I thought maybe they were slightly babyish for Munchkin who is now 8. But when Munchkin saw the pictures she was happy to have one for school and wanted the dolphin one. (She currently loves dolphins….oh and dinosaurs?!)

Paddlepak features

The backpack doesn’t have  zip at the top, but rather you have to fold the bag over three times and then clip it shut.

Inside it is very spacious and am surprised by how much you can actually get into it. It also has a separate pocket within the main section. There is also a section to write your name.

There is even a section in the back of the tail to put a few small bits and bobs! And also a mesh pocket at the side of the dolphin.

What we also love about it is the handy sunglasses clip!

The girls couldn’t wait to try out the bag. Bee of course wanted a go and it was almost as big as her. However, because it is lightweight, it is ideal for her to put on her back with a few things in it. Munchkin wasn’t best pleased that her sister had her bag so we swiftly had to return it. (Looks like I’m going to have to get one for Bee now too!)

Munchkin loves it simply because it is a dolphin. I am slightly concerned that it may not be suitable as a school bag, especially now she is in Year 4 and likely to get more books and homework. However, when we tried it out we managed to get her lunchbox in and one of her big A4 size books.

The Paddlepak is ideal for days out. And we can’t wait to take it out when we next go out to the beach, the park or anywhere else that takes our fancy. And the bonus is that it is hand luggage approved. As we are hoping to visit the family in Pakistan soon the backpack will come in handy for Munchkin to put her things in for the flight.

And as Bee may be starting nursery in January, a Paddlepak will be perfect for her to take with her for a change of clothes and anything else she may need.

Disclaimer: I was sent a Paddlepak for the purpose of review. However all thoughts and opinions are my own.
