Asalaam Alaikum/Hi all!
Headlice!!! They are nasty little critters…..
The first time munchkin got them was in January. See my post here.
She has now got them again and infected me too.
This time I am having a hard job getting rid of them even though in January it took just one treatment.
I noticed she had them after just 3 days at school. Since then I am combing her regularly and she is still getting them. I found one again tonight so I put on the overnight treatment and sent her to bed!
We first had a good look at the one we found! It was caught in the comb and was still alive. So I put it on the bed and we watched it! In an weird way they are strangely fascinating! (Does that make me sound odd?!)
Don’t worry, we killed it before it escaped.
I found one in my head last week and I freaked! I put the treatment on immediately and was washing my hair and drying it at midnight. Poor hubby was trying to sleep as he had an early start…..
I then took a drastic step and the following day cut off my hair.
Ok, ok maybe I over reacted! But my hair was up to my bum and it was difficult to make sure I had treated it effectively! Plus it needed a trim…… the trim just ended up a BIG trim……so now my hair is almost up to the middle of my back. A LOT easier to manage.
So anyone got any tips of getting rid of headlice?
I have had to put chemicals on munchkins head twice now and really don’t want to again. It is strong stuff as when I put it on my hair it caused some of my hair to easily fall out. I am sure I also read somewhere that some headlice have become immune to treatments.
Just thinking about the blasted things is making my head itch!!
Salaam sis,
Headlice- yeah Allah. Sounds life most annoying thing..:)
Btw, passing on an extreme muslima award. Here it is. Enjoy!
Comb with a nit comb twice a day and crush the ones you find. Give it a good two weeks of combing. Basically you will catch baby ones before they get big enough to reproduce. But they have to be big enough to be caught first…
Wa alaikum asalaam! Yes they are definitely annoying! Thanks for the award!
Thank you for the tip globeonmytable…2 weeks?!! Oh gosh…… well needs must!
You have to try the 'Nitty Gritty Nit Comb' (http://www.nittygritty.co.uk/site/) I was recently sent one to try out and its amazing so much better than other combs I've tried and no need for chemicals
