Ever been REALLY late in the morning?

I am usually one of these people that when the alarm goes in the morning I switch it off and then just lay there relaxing for a bit.
Usually this is not a problem.
Today it was.
I WENT BACK TO SLEEP!!! (I don’t even remember turning off the alarm)
I am not sure what happened, maybe the exercising is making me more tired than usual.
I woke up and was surprised that it was light. I turned my head to look at the clock and literally fell out of bed!
8.18am
OMG!
I have to get munchkin to school at 8.45am and myself to work at 9am.
I thought it was impossible so was going to drop off munchkins to my mum and forget about school – she was off sick school yesterday anyway so thought I could just make out she was too ill again.
Then I realised that come Wednesday munchkin would probably go to school and say mum woke up late so I didn’t come to school.
So in a mad panic I told her to put her uniform on (she put her shirt on inside out) and all the time she was telling me off and saying ‘Why didn’t you get up mum? Now we have to rush!’
I managed to shove some breakfast down her quickly, (not as much as I would have liked but she’s not a big eater anyway), fed the rabbit and ran out the house. Luckily her dad had already done her lunch for her. Yes I didn’t get to shower or have any breakfast but at least we weren’t late!
I still can’t believe I managed to do it that quick!
I will now be setting up not one but TWO back up alarms!! Never want to go through all that again!

  • Salaam sis,

Very interesting.. This happens to me at times..But the interesting part is that we realize how well we can manage if there is a 'need of the hour'..:)

  • Assalamualykkum sister,

The survival of 'Satan' in our 'minds' happens quite often, especially in the 'early mornings'… Ahudu Billah!

    May Allah Bless us…

  • I do have similar situations often…and I surprise myself too with my speed!! I feel its good, to test our capabilities. Or we always think we cannot do it, like how you first decided to send your kid to your Mom. From now own, you can always wake her up and get ready for school within minutes, 'coz you know you can do it.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and I'm following yours.

  • I'm lucky in one way that my children have always been early risers but I do hate being late puts you out for the whole day

  • This has happened to me on occasion and like you I never realised I could be that quick to get ready. I set 4 alarms on my phone now – 6am, 6:05, 6:10 and 6:15 just to be sure I wake up.

  • Great Job. It's amazing how we get things done under pressure but It is a terrible feeling to have to rush and it can lead to unnecessary outcomes. Glad all turned out well. Have a better day tomorrow :)) and thanks for visiting my blog.
It's so nice to see all our similarities.

  • Thanks for your comments!

@Nishana, true if someone had said to me I could get ready in such a short amount of time I would have thought they were crazy! lol

@Dana it took me back to my uni days!! I was always getting ready at the last minute for lectures!

Wa alaikum asalaam Feel Islam. Very true!

@About Aisha, although I now know I can do it, I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen again inshAllah

@littleboo, munchkin is an early riser at weekends when I want a lie in….school days she sleeps in! :s

    @Amalia, I have now got 2 alarms…hopefully that will be enough and I won't need 2 more!!

@Patricia, thanks for dropping by my blog! Yes I was getting so stressed out trying to get ready which could have affected my whole day!

  • I know this, it happened to me one or twice, and now I always have two alarms, so I am sure I will wake up. It's such a rush otherwise and just the idea of no shower or a cup of tea before work make all my day a bad one.
