Book Reviews: Draw and Learn My First Activity Books

Blue Apple Books were kind enough to send me some books to review. The first of these were Draw and Learn Books. I thought munchkin may love these as she seems to love drawing.
Draw and Learn Places
This is recommended for ages 3-6. It is a large sturdy paperback and first impressions are that it is colourful throughout and will engage readers. What I like about it is that it is not just about drawing. It mentions shapes and sizes. For example, ‘A house is made of many shapes’ and then the child is encouraged to draw shapes. Also when drawing the houses, they are asked to draw the ‘smallest’ house so they are also being taught about the concept of size.
Here is an example of a page.
Many of the pages are partially completed, allowing the child to complete the rest. In others they are encouraged to draw themselves, for example they are given a picture of a bird in a tree and asked to draw a birdhouse.
The pictures range from the house (both human ones and animal ones), to the garden, to an igloo! The variety is sure to keep a child’s interest.
Draw and Learn People

This similarly is a large sturdy paperback. But obviously this time is about drawing people. It is recommended for ages 3-5. It again has partially completed pages and teaches the child to draw things like moving legs.

It also helps the child to draw a robot and encourages the child to draw a boy, girl and their family. And there are also plenty of pictures to colour. It helps children see details, shapes, colours, sizes and anatomy.
Both books have:
  • Easy to understand instructions
  • Large pages and sturdy construction
  • Include fun split pages and cut outs
With the summer holidays coming, these books will be perfect to keep munchkin entertained and may help to improve her artistic side.
Disclaimer: I was sent the books for the purposes of review. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
