Monthly Gratitude – August

Back at the start of the year I decided to do a monthly gratitude series to remind me to be grateful of every thing as it is so easy to take things for granted. However an unexpected trip to Pakistan threw my whole blog schedule out of sync and I never got back to doing it monthly. But I need to do this for myself….to help me appreciate what I have as we often overlook what we have and focus on what we don’t. So time to start again and get this going monthly.

Summer holidays

It was back to school today but I am grateful for the 6 weeks we had off in August as although the girls do bicker quite a lot and can stress me out, we managed to fit in two trips – one to Wales and one to Scotland. I am grateful that we are in a position to allow us to take the girls to different places, get them to have new experiences and make lots of memories together.

My husband has been having a few tests recently and it was a bit of a worrying time but alhamdulillah they came back clear. Although there are some issues which are currently unexplained we know its not cancer or anything as serious as that alhamdulillah. So I grateful for the healthcare we receive which enables us to have these tests free of charge.

Life in General

I have been feeling a bit down about the whole blogging scene and debating whether to continue…but I have made the decision to step back and evaluate. And just blog if I want to…it won’t be the end of the world if I don’t blog regularly or if I don’t bother as much with the Muslimah Bloggers community. I have decided not to get stressed about the whole thing and just go with the flow…so I am grateful that I don’t have to rely on the blog as a means to an income and just keep it as a hobby if I choose.

  • So nice to read you again.
Happy to see you enjoyed beautiful moments all together and that you took time to think about what you’d like to do next with the blog.
    Love from Paris

  • I love the aim of this post and your series for this. I believe it’s a lovely way to reflect too. Alhamdulilah, it’s great to hear that your husband’s tests came back clear. That must have been a huge relief. I totally respect your decision about blogging. Sometimes, you need to take a few steps backwards in order to move in the correct direction. May Allah swt make it easy for you, Ameen. I look forward to reading some more of your posts.

  • I’m grateful that winter is nearly over for us here and the summer holidays are coming so that I can have the 7 weeks break! Seriously though there are a lot of things to be grateful for, and I’m glad you got to spend time with your family over their holidays.

  • Absolutely, it is not a compulsion to be ‘out there’ all the time. Its good that you have chosen to do what is enjoyable and stress free. Alhamdolillah.

  • Al hamdililah you had a wonderful and relaxing vacation. I think we all deserve a break from time to time and blogging is something that takes a lot of energy and creativity, so it is normal to want to step away for awhile! You don’t have to feel guilty about that! We will be here when you are ready to come back insha’Allah 🙂

  • We should be really be grateful in everything that happens for a reason anyway. Great to hear for what you’ve been grateful for this month.

  • This is such a wonderful idea! We tend to get so caught up in our day to day routine and issues that we often end up forgetting our blessings and this is a great way to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. Thanks for sharing!

  • It really is a blessing to not have to worry about trying to earn through blogging or the stress of needing to bring money home in general. Alhamdulillah.

For me August was a pretty productive month in terms of friendships, made some great new friends alhamdulillah
