Review: Schleich Horse Club – Hannah’s Guest Horses with Ruby The Dog

With the eldest being horse mad, and Bee also loving horses, I knew that they would be so excited to play with this….and I was right!

Recommended for ages 5-12, the set doesn’t take long to put together and play can start immediately!

The eldest has collected a few Schleich animals over the years including a few horses. They have always been her favourites and she has looked after them well. At almost 13 years old she didn’t hesitate to play with this set along with her sister.

What’s in the Box?

Horse Club set bits

All the pieces are individually wrapped and the set does come with lots of parts which you have to put all together. However the instructions are very clear and it took minutes to put it together. You do have to make sure you get the fences the right way round but the instructions are very clear. There are some very small parts, which is why the set is not suitable for children under the age of 3.

Once all the parts are put together you have:

2 horses (a mother and foal)
Ruby the dog
A paddock
A kennel
Number of small accessories such as a dog bowl and bone.

All the parts can be seen in the instruction sheet below.

As soon as it is put together, play can commence!

Yard dog Ruby has her paws full: she watches very carefully over the newly arrived mare and her sweet foal.

What did we think?

I have always found Schleich toys to be of good quality and the Hannah’s Guest Horses set doesn’t disappoint. The attention to detail with even the smallest accessories really stand out and make the set all the more pleasing to look at and play with.

Ruby the dog was well received by Bee, coming with her own kennel, food bowl, neckerchief, stick and bone.

What we liked about the kennel is that it comes with its own section on the side which you can use as storage for the bone, stick and bowl if necessary.

Ruby the dog is also able to hold the bone and the stick in her mouth which helps make the play more imaginative as the girls could change what she was holding.

The paddock and the horses make the play all the more fun. The paddock has a lock that can be opened and shut, and there is also a a little basket of apples that clips to the side of the fence. The horses come with a blanket for the foal and also a bridle.

The girls enjoyed playing with the set and even added some of their other Schleich animals when playing. It is perfect for the horse mad!

Hannah’s Guest Horses and Ruby the Dog retails at £29.99 and is available from Smyths Toys and Amazon: Schleich 42458 Club Hannah’s Guest Horses with Ruby The Dog, Multicoloured.

  • My 9 year old is obsessed with schleich horses! This was a gift for her birthday. It is a little pricey, but I think it is worth it. I saved $40 buying it on Amazon instead of buying it at our local Tractor Supply Store. This set come with so many pieces. The instructions were clear; it took only a few minutes to put together. I like that it came with extra stickers so she can customize it the way that she wants to.
