It is that time of year again! Panto Season! Last year the Key Theatre impressed us with Peter Pan and we couldn’t wait to see this years offering: Beauty and The Beast – ‘the tale as old as time about a young girl who is caught up in a handsome chevalier’s struggle to overcome an evil Wolf Queen’s curse.’

As expected the panto was fun and unique with yet again a local twist, being set in ‘Pierreborough’. The script, loosely follows the traditional Beauty and the Beast story but with new songs and music being performed by the multi talented cast themselves.

Rebecca Levy returned this year as Belle. She was amazing as Peter Pan last year and was equally amazing as Belle this year.

And of course a panto would not be a panto without a dame. Madame Obnobs played by TJ Holmes, brought lots of laughs onto the stage along with Barnie Doors.

As usual there was audience participation adding to the fun and even a pie in the face moment!

Amongst all the fun and frolics, there is of course a ‘baddie’ to boo and hiss at. And this year it was a Wolf Queen played by Francesca Fenech.

This year the panto was enjoyed by 100 children and adults from Heltwate School who were invited thanks to brand new sponsorship and investment from Smiths Renault Peterborough.

Smiths Renault Peterborough’s General Sales Manager Jon Southam says: “As a family-run Peterborough business, Smiths Renault is delighted to be supporting the Beauty and the Beast Pantomime in conjunction with Vivacity. The work that Vivacity are doing within the Peterborough community is fantastic and we have plans for the pantomime to be just the start of our relationship together. When we first spoke to Vivacity, we just couldn’t think of a better way to introduce the All-New Renault Clio to Peterborough. The Clio is celebrating her 30th birthday this year and just like the pantomime, has been a big part of many families’ lives throughout the years.”

The panto is sure to be enjoyed by both young and old and we would recommend going to give it a watch!

Beauty and the Beast runs from 5 Dec – 5 Jan. Book your tickets online at vivacity.org/panto or call the friendly box office team on 01733 207239.
