Under the Ramadan Moon: Book Review

Under the Ramadan Moon is a book we have had some time and comes out every Ramadan as part of our Ramadan book collection.

We Watch for the Ramadan moon.

Ramadan is one of the most special months of the year – a time to pray, fast, and help those in need.

Illustrator: Sue Williams

Paperback

Publisher: Albert Whitman & Co

If you are looking for a simple but sweet book for the children then this is ideal. It is not text heavy and the lyrical text makes it an easy read for the you and the children.

As the title suggests, the focus is on the Ramadan Moon. Everything that is done is done under the Ramadan Moon. Some of the traditional things that are done in Ramadan are mentioned. For example, giving to the poor, stopping bad habits and fasting by day.

The book will be appealing to the younger children, not just because of its ease for reading, but also for the vivid illustrations. Each page is covered in colour.

At the end of the book there is a page with some more detailed information about Ramadan.

An ideal book to give initial impressions of what Ramadan is about.
