I thought I was pretty much done with soft play once the girls were older, but now with a toddler, soft play is back in our life!
Soft play, whether you love it or hate it, has many benefits for the children and it encourages motor development. While they explore the soft play they can jump, climb, crawl, roll and more in safe, soft areas. It is also great for social skills as they learn to mix and play with other children…and the best bit is that it tires them out so hopefully they have a long nap afterwards enabling you to have some time to yourself!!
One of our favourite soft play places is Full of Beans in Peterborough. Why is it our favourite? Because it is smaller than the others and perfect for Minu at her age. It is recommended for children up to age 8 so you don’t have to worry about older children running around. Due to its size, it is not overwhelming and there is a limit of how many children can be on the equipment, therefore booking is required.
Full of Beans Cafe and Soft Play
Full of Beans is firstly a cafe and then a soft play. So you don’t need to take the children and can just go in for a drink and a bite to eat. With venues in Bourne and Peterborough (with more on the way), it’s the perfect place to meet up with friends for a catch up.
There is a good choice for food, with snacks such as nachos to a heftier lunch that includes jacket potatoes and panini’s. There is also a kids menu which includes pasta or you can do the snack box, which is a sandwich, squash and 3 other items which can include fruit, raisons, yoghurt and more.
For those with a sweet tooth, that can also be satisfied; they do some delicious brownies and milkshakes.
The soft play has to be booked in advanced and is £3.99 per child. The soft play itself is over 3 tiers and it is designed in such a way that you can see your child almost all the time. It can bit a bit noisy if it is fully booked, but as there is a maximum number of children that can be booked it doesn’t get overcrowded.
There is a small ball pit area for the very little ones:
However my almost 2 year old can easily manage the rest of the soft play. The slide keeps her busy, and she generally likes climbing everywhere so she enjoys the session when we go. The sessions are 90 minutes long.
You can get a better idea of the soft play area by watching our instagram reel.

Oh wow! That food looks amazing! There was nothing like that when my girls were little and I took them to soft play. This sounds like a fantastic place to visit with little one’s. x
